Air Marshal (retd) Ayaz Ahmed Khan has criticised SCBA President Asma Jahangir for what he called her "old pent up anger and grievances and her violent tirade against the armed forces" which, he said, lacked rationality, wisdom and logic.
In a message posted on an internet forum, the retired Air Marshal said: "In 1971, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and the coterie of generals, led by drunk Yahya Khan, should have listened to Air Marshal Asghar Khan, Asma Jahangir and many others, who were shocked that ZAB stole the elections and Yahya Khan and Tikka Khan unleashed the Army against the defenceless civilians in East Pakistan.
"By denying the Awami League and Shiekh Mujibur Rehman to form the government at the Centre, the PPP and the junta destroyed Quaid-i-Azam's Pakistan. They should never be forgiven for this act of treachery. But to condemn the Pakistan Army for good for the follies of the PPP leaders and the Junta is unacceptable."
Air Marshal Ayaz said: "The leadership of the armed forces today is far more professional, selfless and committed than ever before. Thousands of officers and men have been killed in the battlefields fighting foreign funded terrorist mercenaries in Bajaur, Malakand, Swat, South Waziristan, North Waziristan in freezing winter and boiling summer when Asma Jahangir, sitting on cushioned chairs in her air-conditioned drawing room and office has been spewing venom against our gallant officers and soldiers.
"She needs to change her violent and angry mindset, and being a seasoned lawyer, she should use reason, logic and prevailing facts to prove her point. She should forgive and forget, and I beg her not to carry for ever but to dump her baggage of abuse and slur."ECe
